collaborated with Green City Growers to provide the building tenants at Kendall Center with gardening education programs. Notably, employees from Akamai Technologies and Google were frequent attendees at monthly sessions in the inaugural year. Additionally, members of the local community, including the Community Arts Center, participate in special programs, with the hope that these gardens become fully communal spaces in the future.

The System We Created
Green City Growers has installed raised beds in two locations. Six beds are installed on the rooftop of Kendall Center, and six more in South Park on Broadway in Kendall Square. Both locations are open to the tenants of the buildings as well as the local community. Boston Properties hopes that these gardens become truly collaborative community gardens, where individuals throughout the city can work together to grow healthy food.
Where Does the Food Go?
100% of the produce grown at both garden locations is donated to our food rescue partner, Food for Free.
