Boston urban farming company announces first round of funding led by investment firm Fay and Tung Associates, LLC, to fuel growth.
BriefingWire.com, 5/29/2015 – Boston, MA: Green City Growers announced today that is has secured an infusion of capital in order to continue rapid growth as Greater Boston’s premier urban farming company. This funding effort is led by Fay and Tung Associates, LLC, and represents the company’s largest round of investment since inception in 2008.
Recently unveiling Fenway Farms at Fenway Ballpark, Green City Growers pioneered the viability of urban farming in New England. Today, Green City Growers maintains more than 150 urban farms for educational institutions, corporate employee benefit programs, private residences, and retail foodservice for restaurants, supermarkets and cafeterias.
Green City Growers’ dramatic average annual growth of 40% has been driven by increased demand among local and global organizations in and around Boston. Customers include Whole Foods Market, Boston Properties, BGood restaurant chain,Brandeis University, Boston Public Schools, YMCA, and dozens of additional businesses and institutions in eastern Massachusetts.
Over the last year, Green City Growers has more than doubled its staff from 10 to 25 to accommodate growth. Building on this momentum, Green City Growers will use the additional financing to continue expanding its regional reach, accelerate product development and innovation, and invest in additional assets and marketing resources.
