Sourcing Gardening Supplies From Home

Spring is here in full bloom and as many are beginning to plan their gardens for the growing season, it can be confusing with the nationwide shut down where to buy seeds and supplies. We asked our Director of Operations, Zannah and our Horticulture Manager, Morgan, for advice on where to source gardening essentials and they provided a list of links for everything from gardening advice to soil!

Garden beds and tools:

Gardener’s Supply Company: https://www.gardeners.com/

Seeds and Transplants:

High Mowing Seeds: https://www.highmowingseeds.com/

Hudson Valley Seed Company: https://hudsonvalleyseed.com

Local vegetable farms and community gardens: many have extra transplants to buy and have moved their markets to online, in the Boston area, Neighborhood Farms is a great one!

Learning How to Garden:

GCG’s Book: https://greencitygrowers.com/shop/the-urban-bounty-book/

Umass Extension: https://ag.umass.edu/resources/home-lawn-garden

Gardening with Kids: https://edibleschoolyard.org/

Johnny’s Seeds: Johnny’s is currently only selling to commercial clients but has great growing information https://www.johnnyseeds.com/

Soil/Local Materials:

Local garden centers for Eastern Massachusetts such as: Mahoney’s, Boston Gardener, Pemberton Farms, Ricky’s Flower Market, Allandale Farm for potting media, soil amendments, pots, grow lights, crop protection, irrigation supplies, etc.

Look up your local farm to see if you can pick up or get a delivery of compost or soil

Pick up: Brick Ends Farm, Hamilton https://brickendsfarm.com

Home Depot/Lowes Delivery or pick-up (irrigation equipment, wood, hardware, topsoil, seeds, transplants)
