What an amazing night we had last Thursday in celebration of Green City Growers’ 10th anniversary! It was a beautiful end-of-summer evening full of sunshine and smiles. Around 100 people joined us for this exciting company milestone, celebrating 10 years of transforming unused urban space into diverse and productive farming opportunities.
We partnered with Remnant Brewing Company to host our party, inviting them to share their latest tasty offerings with our guests. The space was especially perfect for snapping a pic by our glamorous photo booth wall with some plush vegetable props. The brand new Bow Market shops provided us with great outdoor space to share our evening with others embedded in Somerville’s friendly and community, and gave us a chance to welcome the other new vendors within the market!
Greeted at the entrance by our decorative chicken friend (who we are still voting on a name for), guests were able to enjoy delicious food prepared by Bow Market vendors Saus, In Season Food Shops, and Gâté Comme des Filles. They created some outstanding dishes, putting unique twists on our fresh GCG grown garden veggies and herbs, including medley kabobs, pasta with veggies, and chocolate mousse made with three different varieties of our harvested mint plants.
As the night progressed, an acoustic musical performance was given by our farmers to add to an overall fun social night full of family, friends, company clients and old and new GCG team members! Once the music ended, Jessie shared some exciting announcements about our new logo in the works and how grateful she is that our company culture still brings previous GCG employees back to celebrate company milestones together. To top it all off, our guests received custom GCG tote bags and seeds for their own pollinator gardens on their way out into the late summer night.
If you weren’t able to make it, thank you for your continued support in our journey to make the world a greener place. We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings as a one-woman show to a thriving, diverse company with 25 team members maintaining over 150 farms and gardens.
We’re so excited for the future of both urban farming and GCG. Cheers to the next 10!
